BARK IN THE PARK is postponed until we have our own property…at which time we will resurrect this wonderful community event!
Bark in the Park raised $4,000 in 2008 and additionally spotlighted
a pretty impressive guest list!
Bruce
Castor, Commissioner of Montgomery County, joined Congressman
Jim Gerlach, Senator John Rafferty, and State Representative
Mike Vereb on a beautiful day in Schwenksville, PA. They were
all in attendance and even opened the day's festivities with a series
of short speeches! While they had nothing but great things to say
about AWP, these politicians also spent some time reflecting on the
significance of recently-approved Puppy Mill legislation.

"We're very proud to stand here a week after putting into
place some great legislation that will hopefully protect animals from
abuse," said Representative Vereb, who was accompanied
by his rescued Labrador "Avon."
Senator Rafferty agreed. "We worked very hard with
Governor (Rendell), a number of the interest groups, the rescue
shelter folks and the vets... to fashion a good piece of legislation
for dogs in Pennsylvania," he said.
Congressman Gerlach was quick to acknowledge the strong
state-wide law; and, as one of the lead sponsors of new Puppy Mill
legislation at the federal level, he said he was looking forward
to working with the Humane Society on the effort. In the end though,
Gerlach reinforced the Bark in the Park's true purpose: "Today's
not a day to talk about legislation," he said, "It's
to have fun and be with your pets and just enjoy the wonderful day
here at the Park."

the Park website.
Thanks to all who annually participated in raising pledges during
our first 3 years of Bark In The Park! The results of your fund raising
efforts created an amazing scholarship program. These scholarships
provided funds to Humane Society Police Officers, helping allow for
new or additional education. Officers will fight animal cruelty for
years to come in their areas of Pennsylvania! AWP is thankful to the
participants, their pets, and all of our wonderful vendors, sponsors,
and demonstrators!
