Pets That Have Been Adopted Through AWP
These are animals whom the AWP helped to rescue. They have been adopted by a loving family and are doing well."
Starletta

STARLETTA:
This cutie is no longer planning to show or breed, and has instead found a new "Forever Family."   Starletta was a 2 year old pure-bred AKC Silky Terrier with many champions in her pedigree.  Her career ended due to a slipping patella (knee cap).  Seeing her fly all around the yard, though, one would not know this small issue even existed.

Starletta is all about being fun loving and affectionate.  She is good with most dogs .. but can be bossy at times.  She has been house-broken and crate-trained.

Oops"OOPS:" 18 month old filly, who found a professional hand.  Oops spent most of her short life thrown in a field with no care.  She was noticed 2 months ago and taken in by a kind person, and has now found a real home.  Papered Thoroughbred with Secretariat bloodlines; will mature as a large pony or small horse.  Sound; cute, and still figuring out her personality!

Layla

"LAYLA:"  Female, 2 years old, spayed.  Mastiff/Pitt Mix.  65 lbs.

Due to intense and uncontrollable allergies, Layla's owner is being forced to find another home for Layla.  She is a very sweet, energetic, Mastiff/Pitt mix. Couch potato who loves car rides.

ELF: Sweet little Elf is the perfect house kitty.  She happily chatters and enjoys a huge range of conversation with you.  She also loves to interact, yet is as gentle as they come.

Bonnie: After traveling a 5 mile loop as a Feral Dog for over 2 years and known throughout several towns as a Houdini who absolutely could not be caught, AWP stepped in and got involved in Bonnie's successful capture

Willow:
Trying to survive in the middle of a massive 8-lane intersection, AWP spotted and captured this juvenile Domestic Shorthair --- and with the help of Spay and Save, quickly put him on the road to recovery.
Today she is beloved by a family and has "made the leap" to a happy, healthy, and friendly family pet.

Heather (Festiva)
: Approx. 6-year-old female “Blue Merle” Sheltie. Captured by an alert Park Ranger in Green Lane Park, she was in miserable condition. He immediately brought her to us.

Heather has found a new and loving home through the help of Patchwork Shelties.

Sadie:
Sadie came to us because of an emergency due an owner's mental illness. Her life was being threatened and she was also physically unwell.

Thanks to the great care of Dr. Karen Overall from University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Jen Clarke of King of Prussia Veterinary Hospital Sadie began to rebound.

It took several months of care and gentle training by Leslie McDevitt, and Sadie blossomed into a lovely lady with a gentle soul. Shortly after, Sadie was on her way to a home thanks to The Dog's Den of Grantville, PA.
Sasha” was noticed lying in a cage corner, refusing to interact with people or animals. As luck would have it, somebody noted they were looking for a quiet puppy.....and the match was made.

Sasha is now learning the basics of growing up in a loving home instead of a cage, while her owners enjoy telling people how the AWP helped make their dreams come true!

"Puff the Magic Dragon," a little Welsh pony, found help through the AWP.

His life changed dramatically as he entered a professional barn full of children to love, play, and work with.

Within a half year, Puff entered the Pleasure Driving Marathon atDevon Horse Show 2005. He was smartly attired and cheered by fans as he trotted through the streets and arena of this famous horse show. He competed at Devon again in 2006. By 2007, he competed and won the title of Pennsylvania's State 4-H Champion in "Pleasure Driving."

Puff's success story is a bright example of how a lost animal's situation can be turned around when we support positive changes in their lives.

Lucky: This is Lucky, a 90 lb. Benji dog!
While he is no longer available for
adoption, we just had to share this
cool story!

Lucky was found in an apartment that had been rented a county park in Pennsylvania. He was filthy, fearful, and abandoned. The Park employee who discovered Lucky immediately took him in. She also financed his extensive grooming and veterinary needs, all the while providing him with lots of hugs. But she could only keep him temporarily. So she contacted the Animal Welfare Project in hopes of our assisting Lucky, in finding him either a foster family or permanent home.

While he was scheduled to be announced in our newsletter, an urgent e-mail alert also went out to our members. Within HOURS we had at least 5 responses, all offering wonderful, fenced-in properties.

Lucky has found his way into a new home and new life, where he can play with other four-legged pals and enjoy his days. We hear he fetches his owners' newspaper every morning!

Simon: Discovered on the street with a broken leg (allegedly beaten by street thugs), 2-year old Simon is enjoying a real change for the better.

After basic training with an AWP member, Simon has gone forward into a new “job!”

He now keeps company with the caretaker of an estate, and “patrols” the fenced and manicured grounds. What a switch!

Nikita was the Chow/Golden mix found wandering the streets of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.

He was found underneath the edge of a car, on a busy street, with vehicles flying right past his head. He was starving and disoriented. It was obvious he had once been loved, and now was lost. He had simply “given up.”

A woman who was leaving the USA temporarily took him in. But time was short and her departure was imminent. We are happy to report that, while his original owner was never found, Nikita has been blessed with a lovely new home and made out beautifully!
