EQUINE RABIES
Rabies is a disease that can be spread from an infected horse's
saliva to you.
Cases of rabies in the U.S. have nearly tripled in the last
30 years. It is critical to know the signs of equine rabies.
Horses infected with rabies may show such signs as:
-colic
-inability to eat
-aggressiveness
-excess salivation
-depression
-lameness
-incoordination
Rabies, usually spread by the bite of an infected raccoon, skunk,
bat, or fox, is 100% fatal. The only way to protect both yourself
and your horse is by annually vaccinating your horse for this
disease.
